GENERAL INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS

Academic Calendar

The Workshop's academic year is divided into two 16-week semesters (Fall and Spring). Each is preceded by a 10-day Residency period. Key dates for each Residency and semester are listed under Calendar.

Attendance

Attendance at the 10-day Residency is required for participation in the Semester which follows that Residency. During the Semester, consistent participation is required. Specific requirements may vary from course to course.

Distance Learning Mode of Delivery

The Catalyst online learning system, developed by Big Mind Media of Whidbey Island, is the Workshop's primary online mode of delivery. Enrolled students will be assigned individual access codes.

Immersion Experience in First Semester

To provide an immersion experience, students must take fifteen credits in the first semester, consisting of English 500: The Profession of Writing in addition to a workshop and a craft course in the genre of specialization. After the first semester, students may take anywhere from 5 to 15 credits per semester.

Waiver of Regulations

A petition for waiver of a specific regulation should be initiated in the Student Services Office.
