CONCENTRATIONS

Writing for Children and Young Adults

Individuals wishing to pursue a concentration in children/YA will take at least two writing workshops which focus on children's/YA literature and will produce a thesis manuscript with children/YA as the intended audience. At least two directed reading courses and at least one craft course will focus on children's/YA literature.

Fiction

Individuals wishing to pursue a concentration in fiction will take at least two writing workshops which focus on fiction and will produce a novel or collection of short stories for a thesis manuscript. At least two directed reading courses and one craft course will focus on fiction.

Non-fiction

Individuals wishing to pursue a concentration in non-fiction will focus at least two writing workshops on non-fiction, and the thesis manuscript will be a book-length work of non-fiction or a collection of shorter non-fiction pieces. At least two directed reading courses and one craft course will focus on non-fiction.

Poetry

Individuals wishing to pursue a concentration in poetry will take at least two writing workshops which focus on poetry and will produce a collection of poems for a thesis manuscript. At least two directed reading courses and one craft course will focus on poetry.
